Rotary Scholarship ($1,000):  Kaitlyn Miller (Drummond High School)
Rotary Scholarship ($1,000):  Callie Asp (Hayward High School)
Rotary Scholarship ($500):  Brodie McConnell (Hayward High School)

About the Scholarships' Namesakes:
Bob Hamilton was a long standing Hayward Area Rotary club member and WWII Navy veteran. He represented Rotary ideals and was a strong supporter of education.  In the Spring of 1998, our club received information that we would be hosting a young woman from Moldova, a previous Russian State. After her stay in Hayward, our student went back to Moldova.  Bob was concerned that by returning home she may never have the financial means or ability to pursue a higher education so he began quietly to raise funds with the idea of helping our student complete a college degree.Four years later, our foreign exchange student graduated with a four-year degree in international business on scholarships 100% funded by Bob's singular pursuit. Today, the scholarship is awarded locally to a deserving student pursuing additional training or school after high school.

The Patti Patefield Scholarship honors Ms. Patefield, Director of Nursing for Hayward Area Memorial Hospital. A local Rotarian, she encouraged many to pursue healthcare and the scholarship honors her legacy. She died of brain cancer.
